This story from about the depression era life in Toronto strikes a chord with me. I’ve long heard the depression’s tales of sacrifice and scarcity that makes our uncertain times seem stable. That we find ourselves with expensive prices for basics hardly compares to the kind of real hard times our grandparents understand.
