Oppression in Canada
Glenn Grunwald, someone I rarely agree with but read nevertheless, comments at Slate.com about a nauseating situation in Canada:
“If Muslim groups can trigger government investigations due to commentary they find offensive, so, too, can conservative Christian or right-wing Jewish groups, or conservative or neoconservative groups, or any other political faction seeking to restrict and punish speech it dislikes”
Ezra Levant is taking on the Alberta Human Rights Commission, and human rights is stretching it here, over a part-time Imam’s complaint over his decision to publish last years “tempest” known as the Danish cartoons of Mohamed.
The video clip featured on Slate, though by no means only ther, is making its way around the web and the left, right and reasonable centrists all site the odious laws in Europe and Canada concerning hate speech.
The full transcripts is available at Ezra’s site, as is all of the video taped “investigation”.
My native land’s various “human rights” entities, force citizens to defend themselves without benefit of legal counsel when deposing, cause defendants to fund their defense while the complaintant pays nothing and sets up a quasi-judicial process, funded by the general taxpayers, that includes queries as to the “intent” of what ought to be an individual’s rights to free speech.
Essentially, they operate as “thought crime” investigators.
Update: Yahoo News has a summary of the recent actions against Canadian publications by Islamic groups in Canada. Really Scary!
