ISU Cross Offends
So here in Iowa, an Iowa State University professor takes offence, publicly, to a cross in a chapel on campus in Ames, Iowa.
The students, as the Des Moines Register article details, don’t exactly feel the same way that the “international studies” professor does. Warren Blumenthal’s letter to the editor of the Ames Tribune is a grasping, petty effort to discredit the University that likely has granted him tenure.
It is refreshing to hear that the President of ISU Gregory Geoffrey has already defended the cross though his method’s are through “inclusiveness” rather than for the important meaning of the symbol.
The professor’s polemical letter uses a plainly weird analogy regarding perception and reaches back to Alexis de Tocqueville to justify his pedantic argument to remove the cross.
Boy do I feel sorry for his students!
